Welcome to Baby Safe Travel

You’re about to embark on a travel adventure, and safe travel for your baby has to be a top priority. We offer tips to improve your – and your baby’s – travel experience. Check back often – more features are coming soon, including travel services and information about specific destinations.

Tips for air travel with your newborn:
Consider the stroller – Just because your car seat or stroller combo is bulky, don’t give up on taking it with you. When we’ve traveled, we brought our stroller all the way to the gate, where the friendly staff checked it for us. On arrival, it was waiting for us. Call your airline to check on their policy.

Sleeping is good – It’s not unusual for newborns and infants to sleep most of the flight, soothed by the noise and vibration. Our first flight with our first-born was easy.

Eating is good, too – Because of air pressure changes, your baby may be cranky, with discomfort in ears and tummy. Nursing, bottle=feeding, or sucking on a pacifier can help ease those internal pressure changes, especially on take-off and landing.

Change the scenery – If your infant is fussy and the seatbelt sign is not lit, consider a brief stroll in the aisle. Your legs will thank you, too.

Recommended baby gear for happy traveling:
Infant car seat & stroller
Baby sling or baby carrier (for navigating the airport)
Compact, small diaper bag with a change of clothes, 3 diapers, and lots of wipes
Nursing cover-up
Bottles with disposable liners
Pacifier
Bibs
New toy and a few old favorites
Blankets
Extra burp cloths (3)
Plastic bags for soiled items
2-3 outfits per day (unless baby is very tidy)
