My daughters first trip to the shore on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. She did not want to walk on the sand and when she fell and the sand stuck to her hands she made a frown face as in disgust. She then walked around the beach with her fingers spread out in front of her and she would not touch anything, as if to figure out how she could get the sand off of her hands. She had a similar reaction to snow.
We were happy she was willing to go into the water, but the waves are strong. When my husband had his back to the waves and was filming her, a giant wave washed ashore and pushed her over and that was the end of our beach vacation. She refused to go into the water after that. We will try again this year, hopefully she has a short-term memory.
